Deep Food for Profound Thought

It's funny how the light of life together
Now seems reflected in all things,
Scattering like autumn leaves
Through these days that are the pages of our lives.

It's funny - joyous, and wonderful -
So much so that it tickles the very soul
Until the laughter overflows from
Cheeks that ache from smiling.

I write almost nothing besides love poems,
Love thoughts, love reflections,
And you are writing love songs --
And I love to sing along.

Fortune

"When the flowers bloom, so will great joy in your life."

Yes, it's a fortune cookie saying from Panda Express. (Side note: yes, I gave into the craving for orange chicken.)

My first thought, beyond not ever taking these things seriously, was "in spring time..." which is when we think of flowers blooming. That seems like a long time away with tomorrow being the first day of autumn.

But I thought some more and realized that flowers are blooming everywhere, every day. Even in the winter, there are flowers that bloom and bring color to the world. And if flowers are blooming every day, so can great joy. 

There is colorful joy to be found in each and every day.

What a fortunate realization. 

The One I Love

Every love song

That plays on the radio,

Every picturesque afternoon

That I see through my window,

Every little thing

That makes me laugh or smile,

Every moment of joy

In each day that we feel together,

My soul shares with you,

The one I love. 

Immersed

And as the tide washes over me

I am filled with the wonder 

That is being immersed in your presence. 

Tomorrow

Not that today had a lot of mistakes or anything... It was really quite fine. Just fine. But I am reminded that it is these "just fine" days that help the most wonderful ones truly stand out. :)
The other thing, of course, is that each day is what you make of it. It is the attitudes we ultimately choose to react with that make or break any given situation. And, while today I did just fine, tomorrow is a fresh start in choosing joy as my approach to life. 

So here's to tomorrow.

Moments

Each moment is made up of energy that we have chosen to spend in a certain way.

Today I had many moments of laughter; I spent my energy on being joyful.

Those moments make up hours, which make up days, which make up weeks, months, and years.

Those moments make up a lifetime. 

I want to spend as many as I can on being full of joy.

Joy

Sometimes I have to choose joy,
Choose to find the light in the day
The light in people around me--
The light in things I don't want to do.

But I am blessed with many days
Where the light finds me
Before I know I need to seek it--
Before I need to choose it,
It chooses me.
